Allyson Felix

Allyson Melissa Felix was born at Los Angeles, California on November 18th 1985. Her father Paul Felix is an ordained Minister at Master's Seminary, Sun Valley. Her mother Marlean Felix is a teacher at Balboa Magnet Primary School. Felix was an athletically inclined child and developed a passion for sprinting during her time at Los Angeles Baptist High School. Felix finished second in the U.S. Indoor Track and Field Championships in only 10 weeks, after her first attempt. Felix completed high school in 2003, and signed with Adidas to become a professional athlete. Following that, she was a student at the University of Southern California studying elementary education. Felix was awarded her first Olympic medal at the 2004's Summer Olympics in Athens Greece. Felix ran 200 meters in 22.18s, setting a new junior world record. She became the youngest world champion in the 200 meters in the Helsinki World Championships and defended her title in 2007 beating long-time Jamaican opponent Veronica Campbell. Felix participated at the Olympics during Beijing London Rio de Janeiro and Tokyo consistently placing within the top three of her competitions.
